Born and raised in Port Alberni, Collin has strong ties to the community. After graduating high school in 1975, he spent time working in the forestry and construction industries. Collin went on to earn a diploma in agricultural management from British Columbia Institute of Technology working for a short time in the agricultural industry before beginning his career in accounting in 1982 at a local CA firm. Here, Collin completed four years towards his CGA designation.
Collin joined Canet in 1989 and took on the role as manager and subsequently purchased the company in 1995. He has many years of experience accounting for companies in forestry, not-for-profit, construction, agriculture, service and retail, and machinery contracting.
What he likes most about his work is the opportunity to serve; to help his clients and his fellow workers achieve their potential.
When not at work, Collin enjoys operating a part-time farm in Beaver Creek. He and his wife Cathie are parents to six beautiful children and grandparents to numerous grandchildren.
Eli originally moved from Kildonan to attend high school in Port Alberni. Eli completed his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Vancouver Island University and subsequently joined Canet & Co. in November of 2009.
Eli has much experience in preparing personal and corporate tax returns, BC Logging tax returns, year-end accounting and financial statements, and works with many clients in the forestry industry. In 2015, Eli completed his CGA/CPA designation and was the recipient of the Alberni Valley News Readers choice award for best accountant in the Alberni Valley.
Eli’s hobbies include golf, basketball and football.
Marie has made Port Alberni her home since January of 2000. Marie has extensive industry experience in not-for-profit, First Nations, construction, forestry and retail. She worked as a financial controller for a First Nations organization in Northern BC for 12 years and was a business administrator for both a private school and a technical college.
Marie has a strong background in troubleshooting PC's and software network administration. Marie prepares personal and corporate tax returns, corporate financial statements and financial reports. She obtained level III in the CMA program and has advanced Excel experience.
In her spare time, Marie enjoys golfing, hiking, swimming, boating, traveling, reading and spending time with her dog Finn and her grandchildren.
Meloney moved to Port Alberni from Edmonton in April, 2008 and began working at Canet & Co. in June of the same year. She has over 30 years of accounting and tax experience in both public practice and private industry.
Meloney’s areas of expertise are personal and corporate tax, estate administration and tax, GST and PST. She prepares personal and corporate tax returns and corporate financial statements. Meloney enjoys working with a large diversity of clients and their unique tax situations. She is familiar with many bookkeeping software programs and is a certified QuickBooks Pro Advisor.
Meloney enjoys music concerts, festivals and the Capitol Theater’s live plays.
Angela is from Port Alberni and joined Canet & Co. in 2006. She brings a high level of competence and professionalism to her work. Angela has extensive experience in payroll preparation, reception and many other administrative duties.
Beth has been a life-long resident of Port Alberni. She began work at Canet & Co. in May of 2004 and has years of experience working with clients in many industries including construction, agriculture, and tourism/accommodations. Beth has a passion for learning and broadening her knowledge base and is very thorough and detailed orientated.
Beth has experience in bookkeeping, income tax returns, accounts receivable, accounts payable, preparing proprietorship statement of business activities and preparing GST & PST returns. She is proficient in both Sage 50 Simply and Caseware.
When not at work, Beth enjoys being with her family, reading, and cooking. Involvement with the family farm and gardening are also interests that keep her busy.
Sandra moved from Ontario to Port Alberni in 1995 joining Canet & Co in October, 2003. Sandra has worked in accounting for over 30 years and has bookkeeping experience in a variety of industries. She prepares GST returns, personal and corporate tax returns, and financial statements.
In her spare time, Sandra enjoys walking local trails with her dog Kenzie.
Mandi moved from Burns Lake to Port Alberni in 2011 and joined the team in December, 2013. Mandi obtained a certificate in Applied Business Technology in 2009 and is currently completing her Business Administration Certificate.
Mandi’s work consists of bookkeeping, office administration and preparing income tax returns and has specific experience working with construction companies.
Mandi’s hobbies include cooking, camping, exploring the Alberni Valley and spending time with her family.
Carrie is originally from 100 Mile House, BC. and joined Canet & Co. in March, 2015. Carrie has experience in bookkeeping, preparing tax returns and office administration. She has specific knowledge and experience with Construction files and is proficient in Sage 50, QuickBooks and Caseware.
In her spare time, Carrie enjoys playing with her children and increasing her knowledge in backyard homesteading and becoming self-sustainable.
Chris moved to the Alberni Valley from Courtenay in 2015. Chris obtained his Masters of Business Administration from Vancouver Island University as well as a Master of Science in International Business from the University of Hertfordshire in England.
To pay his way through school, Chris managed a painting franchise for five summers. Later he turned to corporate management as a logistics manager for two years in Big Box Retail.
Chris’ primary responsibilities are in bookkeeping, marketing and any other required office duties. Currently, he is enrolled in the CPA PREP program.
In his spare time, Chris enjoys playing golf and basketball, keeping up with current events, and spending time with his family.
